L&C will be taking part in the first ever Mortgage Sleep Out on Friday 30th November to help highlight the issue of homelessness across the UK. The event will bring together people working across the mortgage industry to help raise funds for the national End Youth Homelessness charity which supports 30,000 homeless young people every year. As at November 5th, more than 1,000 people had pledged to take part in the event. You can find out more about the Mortgage Sleep Out at www.mortgagesleepout.com , and the L&C team page is hereWho we’re raising money forAccording to official figures, it’s estimated that around 4,750 people sleep rough on any given night in the UK. It costs around £25 a day to put a roof over a young person’s head and give them the healthcare, education and employment that can help them turn their lives around. We’re raising money for three charities which help people out of homelessness. These are End Youth Homelessness, and two local homelessness support charities, Julian House in Bath and the Key Project in Newcastle. We’ve already raised more than £1,700 through generous donations and other fundraising activities such as cake sales and mufti days. If you’d like to help us raise more to support these charities please visit our Virgin Money Giving page.
